About

Burgh Castle

Standing on the edge of the Broads near Great Yarmouth, Burgh Castle Roman Fort is one of the best-preserved examples of late Roman coastal defence in East Anglia. Three sides of the original flint-and-stone walls still stand to impressive height, offering a tangible connection to the Roman occupation of Britain. The site is managed by English Heritage and is open on Sundays, with parking on site and level access making it suitable for wheelchair users and families with children.
