Castle Acre, Castle & Bailey Gate
Castle Acre Castle and Bailey Gate is a Norman heritage site in Castle Acre, Norfolk, with earthwork remains among the largest in England.

About
Castle Acre, Castle & Bailey Gate
Managed by English Heritage, this Norman castle and its imposing Bailey Gate sit at the heart of Castle Acre, a village in Norfolk that retains much of its medieval street plan. The earthworks include a substantial motte and surrounding ramparts, giving a clear sense of the castle's original scale and defensive layout. The Bailey Gate itself still stands as a genuine medieval gateway, marking the old entrance to the fortified town.
