About
Bury St Edmunds Market
Bury St Edmunds Market trades every Wednesday and Saturday from 9am to 4pm across the Cornhill and Buttermarket in the town centre. West Suffolk Council runs it, and it now has over 80 stalls. There are fruit and vegetable stalls and street food, alongside more specialist traders selling vegetarian and gluten free food, sustainable gifts and handmade clothing. Some stallholders have traded here for more than 40 years. The market charter was issued by King John in 1202, and there has been a market in the town ever since. Over the centuries it has included a corn market, a livestock market and a fish market. The nearest car park is Cattle Market, by the arc shopping centre. The bus station is on St Andrews Street North, and the railway station is about a 10 minute walk away.
