Heritage Open Days: The Red House

About this event

Part of England's largest festival of history and culture, this free annual event opens the doors of The Red House in Aldeburgh, the Grade II-listed 17th-century farmhouse that was home to composer Benjamin Britten and tenor Peter Pears. This year's theme is 300 Years of Everyday Life, exploring the property's deep roots long before it became a celebrated artistic home, from its origins as a large coastal farm to a dairy school in 1912. Visitors can enjoy live history talks, archival photograph displays, a family detective trail and a hands-on milking challenge, as well as the chance to wander the house, composition studio, library and garden.
