Heritage open Day: Imogen Holst's House

About this event

Part of the nationwide Heritage Open Days, this is a special opening of the Aldeburgh home of composer, conductor and educator Imogen Holst. The one-bedroom bungalow at 9 Church Walk was designed and built by HT 'Jim' Cadbury-Brown between 1962 and 1964, and recently received a Grade II listing on the recommendation of Historic England. Entry is timed, and the house rewards a close look: it retains original features including a soundproofed music room, built-in shelving and Holst's own writing desk, as well as her father Gustav Holst's oak music cupboard. Admission is free, though booking is strongly recommended. Note that parking is not available at the property.
