Digby and Friends Adventure Trail

The Digby and Friends Adventure Trail is a free, self-guided augmented reality walking experience woven through Ipswich town centre, starting at the Cornhill. Using the dedicated Digby and Beattie app on your smartphone, you follow a trail map, scan each character's silhouette at its stop, and unlock a series of animated AR story moments that bring the town's heritage and community life to life.

What to expect

• Twelve magical adventures featuring DiGBY, Beattie, and a cast of seven uniquely designed characters, each embodying a different theme connected to Ipswich.
• Seasonal editions spanning Summer, Halloween, Christmas, and Spring, so there is always something new to discover whatever time of year you visit.
• An in-app AR Art Gallery showcasing artwork created by local schoolchildren, giving the trail a genuinely community-rooted feel.
• A rewarding finish: complete the in-app survey once your adventure is done and collect a prize from Ipswich County Library or The Hold.

Good to know

• The trail runs from 1 January to 31 March 2026 and is available any time of day. Note that Ipswich is in Suffolk, not Norfolk.
• Download the free Digby and Beattie app (available on the App Store and Google Play) before you set off.
• The project is brought to you by Ipswich Central, the town centre Business Improvement District, with support from Ipswich Borough Council and Towns Deal funding, so there is no charge to take part.
