About this event
Every Saturday morning, Christchurch Park in Ipswich plays host to one of Suffolk's most welcoming community fitness fixtures. Christchurch Park parkrun is a free, timed 5k that rolls around at 9:00am each week and is genuinely open to everyone, whatever your pace or fitness level.
The course runs entirely on the park's permanent paths through 33 hectares of rolling lawns and wooded areas, with the start line positioned near the Cabman's Shelter. After the run, many participants head straight to the Christchurch Mansion kiosk and tea rooms for a well-earned coffee, making it as sociable as it is active.
What to expect
- A flat-ish, 5km route on surfaced park paths (some sections may be muddy after rain)
- A friendly, volunteer-led atmosphere welcoming walkers, joggers, runners, and spectators alike
- A junior parkrun (2k, for ages 4 to 14) also based at Christchurch Park on Sunday mornings
Good to know
- Free to take part, but you must register once at parkrun.org.uk before your first visit
- Bring a printed or digital barcode on the day as there is a strict no-barcode, no-result policy
- The park is accessible on foot from Ipswich rail station (roughly a mile away) and from the town-centre bus stops on St Margaret's Road; entrances can be found on Fonnereau Road, Soane Street, and Bolton Lane
Note: Christchurch Park is in Ipswich, Suffolk, not Norfolk.
