About
Sudbury Market
Sudbury Market trades every Thursday and Saturday from 8am to 3pm on Market Hill and Old Market Place, in the centre of town. Sudbury Town Council runs it, and in September 2024 it won the Small Market Achievement Award from the National Association of British Market Authorities, with the judges noting that trader numbers had doubled. Regular traders include a fishmonger, fruit and vegetables, a butcher, and fresh cut flowers and plants, joined by casual traders selling street food, bakery, gifts and more. Sudbury is an ancient market town. It appears as a market town in the Domesday Book of 1086, and the town council says a royal charter shows there was a market here as far back as 1009.
