About
Stowmarket Market
Stowmarket Market is a traditional street market held in the Market Place every Thursday and Saturday. Stowmarket Town Council runs it, and its market rules set the trading hours at 9am to 3pm. Traders sell fruit and vegetables, fish, flowers, eco-friendly toiletries, sweets, household essentials, clothing, wool and gifts, phone accessories, bread and sweet treats. In the warmer months, Foodie Thursdays bring a different hot food trader each week, with benches and live entertainment. Edward III granted the town a market charter in July 1347. Alongside the regular market, the town council runs a Farmers Market on the first Saturday of the month and a Family Friendly Market on the third Saturday.
