Grace Adam: Lines of Dissent

A solo exhibition of drawings, paintings and a large-scale site-specific installation by Grace Adam, the culmination of her year as Artist in Residence at Walpole Old Chapel. Since February she has been exploring the 16th-century timber farmhouse that became a secret nonconformist meeting house in 1689, and the work responds to its architecture and the human stories held in it.

On show are huge hanging charcoal drawings made on site, subtle colour studies and an installation built from hazel rods, the material used in the wattle and daub of the original farmhouse. Adam describes the chapel as plain, pragmatic and practical, and also beautiful: big nails, children's graffiti and a make-do-and-mend interior, with a salvaged ship's mast holding up the roof.

Open Saturdays and Sundays for the length of the run. The chapel's usual Saturday opening is 2pm to 4.30pm, so check before travelling. A private view takes place on Friday 25 September (5pm to 7pm) and a free artist's talk on Sunday 27 September at 3pm.

Grace Adam trained as a painter, completed an MA in Sculpture and Installation at Chelsea College of Arts, teaches there on postgraduate courses, and co-hosts The Art Channel, whose exhibition films have passed two million views.
