Aldeburgh Festival

Aldeburgh Jubilee Hall13–28 JunAldeburgh

The Aldeburgh Festival of Music and the Arts returns for its 77th edition this June, running from 12 to 28 June 2026 across the coastal town of Aldeburgh and the wider Suffolk landscape. Founded by Benjamin Britten and Peter Pears in 1948, this year's festival carries particular resonance: it marks fifty years since Britten's death, celebrating both his music and the lasting legacy he and Pears built around nurturing the next generation of artists. The Aldeburgh Jubilee Hall, the festival's original home in the heart of town, remains a cherished part of the programme. This year's Big Day Out on 13 June brings the festival flooding back into Aldeburgh's streets and halls, immersing the town in music, dance and activities for all ages, including a free Mini Music Makers session for children aged 0 to 5. What to expect A semi-staged production of Debussy's *Pelléas et Mélisande*, directed by Rory Kinnear and featuring Sophie Bevan, Sarah Connolly and John Tomlinson Featured Artist Ryan Wigglesworth, conductor, composer and pianist, leading collaborations with Vilde Frang, Nicolas Altstaedt and Steven Osborne New works by Tansy Davies, Brett Dean, Freya Waley-Cohen and others, alongside Britten's late masterpieces The Britten Pears Young Artist Programme, with emerging artists performing alongside the world's finest musicians Good to know The festival runs 12 to 28 June 2026; the Jubilee Hall's Big Day Out events begin on Saturday 13 June Tickets for Britten Pears Arts events are available via the Britten Pears Arts website; Jubilee Hall events can be booked by calling 01728 454022 or in person on Tuesday and Thursday mornings, 10am to noon The Mini Music Makers session on 13 June is free but ticketed; book in advance through the Britten Pears Arts website
