At the southern tip of the Deben Peninsula, Bawdsey Quay offers a small sandy beach at the river mouth, with a foot ferry running across to Felixstowe Ferry when in season. A Martello Tower is visible from the quayside, one of the early 19th-century coastal defences built against Napoleonic invasion. Parking is available on site and the quay is wheelchair accessible. The car park is open Sundays; visitors travelling on other days should plan accordingly.
