About this event

Suffolk SketchFest is Art Safari's annual outdoor sketching festival, returning to the banks of the River Deben in Woodbridge, Suffolk, from Friday 31 July to Sunday 2 August 2026. Set against tidal waters, historic boatyards and wide Suffolk skies, it is a genuinely joyful gathering for anyone curious about drawing and painting outdoors.

The venue is Art Safari's base at the Harbourmaster's Office, Ferry Quay, with sessions spreading along the riverside towards the Tide Mill and Kyson Point. No experience whatsoever is needed: the festival has been designed from the ground up to welcome complete beginners alongside seasoned painters.

What to expect

  • More than 90 artist-led events across three days: workshops, guided sketching walks, and live demonstrations
  • Subjects spanning watercolour, acrylic, printmaking, landscapes, wildlife, and boats
  • A vibrant craft market adding to the festival atmosphere
  • Evening social events with live music, storytelling, and alfresco dining on the quay
  • A relaxed, supportive format: you build your own timetable, and many people come on their own

Good to know

The festival runs 9 am to 6 pm on Friday and Saturday, and 8:30 am to 4 pm on Sunday. A three-day festival pass costs £100 and includes one guided sketching walk, one demonstration, and one workshop. Single and two-day options are also available. There is no parking at the Art Safari Studio, but a pay-and-display car park at Woodbridge Railway Station is a short walk away. Tickets and the full interactive timetable are available via Art Safari's website.
