Bennys yard
A double decker bus turned art gallery on Felixstowe's Beach Street, run by illustrator Benny Brown and rotating work from other local Suffolk artists.

About
Bennys yard
Beach Street in Felixstowe used to be a car park. It's now a row of shipping container businesses, food trucks and independent shops, and Benny's Yard is the bus parked at the heart of it. Benny Brown, an illustrator and designer with a decade of commercial work behind him, turned an old double decker into a gallery downstairs and his working studio upstairs in 2022. What's on show rotates. Benny's own work runs across paintings, prints, stickers and caps under the Benny's Yard brand, where a cheerful, cartoonish surface usually has something more pointed underneath. Around it he hangs other local Suffolk artists, so the walls look different week to week. It's a gallery run by someone who still makes the work himself, in a setting you won't find anywhere else on the Suffolk coast. Good stop either side of a walk along the seafront, and a decent antidote to the usual postcard-shop version of coastal Suffolk.
