Dereham Town Council holds the town's market twice a week, on Tuesdays and Fridays, in the Market Place and Church Street. The market has been recognised as far back as 1388 and has been at the heart of the town ever since. Many of its traders have been with the market for more than 30 years, and the council runs a scheme to help new traders get started. The town council does not publish set market times.
